Meg Johnson
Meg Johnson is a multidisciplinary artist, passionate educator, and poet whose personal work explores themes of personal narrative, mental health, social justice, and other themes of activism. Meg was born in Grand Rapids Michigan and spent their childhood growing up along the coast of West Michigan. They have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Art Education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where she had the privilege of working under the mentorship of Valerie Xanos, who pioneered the ARTivism program within Chicago Public Schools in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art. Here, their academic journey has been marked by a blend of rigorous artistic practice and a commitment to innovative teaching methodologies. Meg’s teaching and artistic practices are driven by a commitment to fostering change and building a more just, compassionate world. Their academic and creative journey is rooted in both artistic excellence and a deep belief that education itself is a powerful form of activism.
