Comenz\u00f3 como una instalaci\u00f3n de arte p\u00fablico intencionada que contrat\u00f3 a artistas morenos y latinos para crear murales en negocios de propietarios negros y marrones de nuestro barrio. A lo largo de dos a\u00f1os hemos hablado con cientos de miembros de la comunidad, desde nuestras sesiones de escucha comunitaria hasta nuestros eventos de activaci\u00f3n en todos los lugares. A los 15 artistas -todos morenos y latinos y llenos de talento- participantes se les encomend\u00f3 la dura tarea de \u00a1representar esas voces! Superaron todos los retos y crearon una magia que representaba diferentes historias de reivindicaci\u00f3n y liberaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Los 15 propietarios de negocios representan la vitalidad, resistencia y perseverancia de la zona sur de Grand Rapids, y muchos de ellos son personas de raza negra y latinos que han vivido aqu\u00ed la mayor parte de su vida.<\/p>\n

Tanto si la gente que participa en el Proyecto 49507 ha nacido aqu\u00ed como si no, todos han comprendido que est\u00e1bamos haciendo algo que todos hemos querido hacer mientras viv\u00edamos en Grand Rapids: hacer que parezca que vivimos aqu\u00ed, incluso cuando la comunidad est\u00e1, al mismo tiempo, infra-invertida y sistem\u00e1ticamente oprimida.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Nika Marie Price y Marcel Price colaboraron juntos para crear algo que nunca antes se hab\u00eda hecho en Grand Rapids, impregnado de colaboraci\u00f3n, comunidad y reivindicaci\u00f3n. Aportando su destreza digital y su poder de organizaci\u00f3n comunitaria, Nika tuvo la idea radical de que podr\u00edamos contextualizar mejor los murales si alguien que viera en tiempo real el trabajo que estamos haciendo para recuperarlos pudiera ver tambi\u00e9n los comentarios que condujeron a la exclusi\u00f3n en la misma zona. La experiencia esboza lo que sabemos que es cierto sobre la opresi\u00f3n, especialmente sobre la exclusi\u00f3n en la zona sur de Grand Rapids, en el \u00e1rea 49507: fue dise\u00f1ada y puede no ser dise\u00f1ada.<\/p>\n

CARNEVALE se encarg\u00f3 de dar vida a la idea y ponerla en l\u00ednea, y de mantener la historia en marcha a medida que el Proyecto 49507 sigue creciendo.
