Cyc and The Diatribe Merger

Dear CYC family,
The Grand Rapids Creative Youth Center is entering a new chapter, and we’d like to invite you to join us! The CYC has been a source of much joy and creativity for our community over the last eleven years, so we know this decision will affect many of our supporters, collaborators, and
community members.

We are excited to announce our decision to merge with The Diatribe, an organization operating out of the Grand Rapids area that focuses on using restorative art to disrupt historical systems of oppression by reimagining education, holistically honoring the community through their approach to their work, and creating an unapologetic vision for liberation that is accessible to all.

Through the uncertainty of the last two years, the CYC persevered, as many other organizations have, and, thanks to community support, was able to relaunch programming last year. Even so, with limited funding and resources, the CYC Board of Directors felt the best way to continue
delivering on our promise to amplify student voices was to partner with an organization that shares our mission, vision, and values.

We feel that The Diatribe shares the vision we have crafted with you, our community, and will be able to lead us into this next chapter with their empowering leadership, strong focus on showcasing students, and community of local artists.
